Hello, My name is Karin van Elst and
I live with mij daughter Sam and our dogs in the center of the Netherlands.
It all started in 1992, when I bought my firts Bernese Mountain dog Max van de
Bennora.

The love for the breed was only this way large, that I bought a female Rongga's
Fitou Miradou.
I thought she'd be the ancenstress of my kennel but unfortunately this
wasn't the case.
Fitou have got two problematic litters of pubs after which we decided
not top pursue breeding with her.
After a long search we got in march 2007 a female come to our home, she is from Belgium
Gloria Vom Gipfelfeuer.
she has a lovely character.
In September 2007 two pups have come to
our home a female Giuseppina Vom Gipfelfeuer and two weeks later a male Gandalf
Vom Gipfelfeuer
this is the brother of Giuseppina, The both came from the same breeder
as Gloria. At this moment they're growing beautiflully and I have a lot of faith
in them.
This will be my new beginning ...........
My way of breeding
The pups are breed according to
the rules of the association “Vereniging de Berner Sennenhond” (VBSH).
This mean that both the father and the mother dog have to have been
tested for dysplasia of the hips (HD) and dysplasia of the elbows (ED).
They’re also judged on their character and exterior appearance and their
liver is tested on a liver disease, in Dutch called “Levershunt”.
When choosing a suitable nale to breed with I pay careful attention on the fact the male and the female are not related for at least 4 generations. Research has proven that most of the (hereditary) problems within the race can be traced back to a kinship that is too close. Of course health and character are most important.
Aside from that we keep in mind
how old the ancestors were when they died and we try to find out how
they died.
The pups are raised at home and when the weather is nice they can play outside as much as they like. They are introduced to other dogs, children and bird so that they can get used to those things.
At
the age of 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks I de-worm them and at the age of 6 weeks they get
their first vaccination. At the same age they are taken on short car rides, to
strange territory, to the malls and the woods. They are also trained to get used
to a collar.

I wish you lots of fun reading and looking at my site
Karin.
